WOMEN IN TOURISM INTERNATIONAL ALLIANCE LIMITED
What a wonderful time this is to belong to WITIA! Excitement is building as many members prepare to gather on the Big Island of Hawaii for our latest Educational tour combined with our Annual General Meeting. This is actually the fourth time we have had an international ingathering in WITIA’s two plus years of existence. Previous destinations have been Post-Katrina New Orleans and the Gulf Coast of the U.S. in November 2006; Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, Australia for our inaugural convention in May 2007; Viti Levu, Fiji in November 2007; and now Hawaii, 15-19 September 2008. How lucky are those members who’ve attended every one!
Our committee on the Big Island has put together a unique and comprehensive itinerary for this Educational, and they look forward to welcoming us like family to their little piece of Paradise. While the destination information will be invaluable – and who knows what business opportunities await? - our main purpose will be the substantial opportunity to network on a personal and professional level. It is one thing to sit in your office and search WITIA’s web database for helpful contacts. It is quite another to actually meet the person face to face. In the beautiful islands of Aloha, we’ll share history, good times, happy memories, and begin / renew relationships that may bear fruit right away – or sometime in the future. Names are no longer merely names when you’ve shared a pineapple or swam together in the blue Pacific. Can there be a better place to do this than in Hawaii?
MEMBER PROFILE:
Beverley Auerbach, Pacific Palisades, California, USA
Beverley Auerbach was born in Montreal, Canada, the youngest of three children. Her father died when she was eight, leaving her mother to support a young family by selling real estate in the chaotic Quebec separatist era. With lots of time alone and with family finances generally uncertain, Beverley developed an independent streak that led her to read extensively, work and study hard, and eventually, to travel widely. Her last year in high school, she spent a summer month with a classmate’s family in France and after that, the world was her oyster. Her favorite things were swimming, dancing and travel, but of them all, travel took precedence.
